Tata Nexon EV launching soon in Nepal

In the fairly small market of EV, the rumors for the arrival of the Tata Nexon EV were buzzing around. Sipradi Trading Pvt. Ltd., the authorized distributor for Tata Motors in Nepal, has now officially confirmed that this electric compact SUV will make its way to Nepal. While Sipradi has maintained its silence on any specifics, here’s a brief overview of the highly-anticipated electric SUV- the Tata Nexon EV.

Tata Nexon EV Overview:

Design:

The Tata Nexon EV is designed on the basis of IMPACT 2.0 norms otherwise known as Tri-Arrow design. But to put it in simpler terms, this sub-4 meter SUV borrows its design cues from Range Rover Evoque, mainly due to its sharp styling and a significantly flat bonnet with LED projector headlamps.

The tri-arrow styling is evident to the rear as well as the interior of the Tata Nexon EV. To the inside, the Nexon EV’s color is a teal-blue (Silver and Withe are exclusive to higher-end trims) and Tata has used the same color on the interior to contrast and spice up the dual-tone finish. The leatherette seats add to the modern look of the Tata Nexon EV.

Performance:

You have 129 ps of power and the torque is 245 Nm. You get different driving modes. It offers 60 percent torque. The torque is transmitted to the motor. The suspension setup here is a modified one and Tata says this offers a comfortable riding experience. The motors have permanent magnets and so is not called Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor capable of churning out 95kW (129ps) of power. The power delivery is handled by a 30.2kWh High energy density lithium-ion. The max traveling distance it offers is 312 km on a single charge. Tata says the batteries have been tested to function smoothly at varying temperatures.

The 30.2kWh battery takes about 8.5hrs to fully juice up via any normal 15A outlet and as for the fast charging feature- Tata has provided the Nexon EV with a 3.3kW AC charger.

Pricing and Availability:

As we mentioned earlier, Tata has been silent about the actual announcement of the Nexon EV, but in our opinion, it might be bidding against the likes of MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona EV. Considering the recent tax benefits that EVs have got, we expect it to launch around NRs.35 Lakhs to NRs.50 Lakhs, depending on the trim you choose. Hopefully, once things start getting back to normal, we might see the Tata Nexon EV in its full glory- in a couple of months maybe, fingers crossed.
