Royal Enfield Nepal launches the Himalayan 450 at NADA Autoshow starting at Rs. 9.89 Lakhs

This year’s NADA Auto Show is all about two-wheelers and the ones that can handle daily commuting and take on rough terrain like champs, i.e. ADVs. Yeah, expect to see a lot of them. A new addition to the ADV arsenal this year is the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, launched at a starting price of Rs. 9.89 Lakhs.

Built on a steel trellis frame reinforced by a subframe which they call a steel twin-spar frame. But lookswise, they haven’t played around much and it does resemble the Himalayan 411 quite strikingly, but with the Himalayan 450, you get liquid cooling instead of its air-cooled sibling- the 411. The wide handlebars give an upright and comfortable riding position. You get spoked wheels, a 21” inch wheel to the front, and a 17” inch wheel to the rear (which means yes you get an All-Terrain bike but you miss out on tubeless tires- you win some you lose some). The headlamp, tail lights, and the indicators are all LEDs. Since it is an ADV, it can be modded easily to fit your needs such as the crash bars, luggage racks, panniers, and more.

For the instrumentation, you get a 4” inch circular TFT display that shows you the ride info and offers Bluetooth connectivity so you can bring up Google maps to easily drive around without looking for a place to mount your phones. This also brings music controls within your sight.  The standard seating height is 825mm, which can be set up to 845mm and for shorter riders, can also be reduced to 805mm.

Running on the first liquid-cooled 452cc engine called the “Sherpa 450”, the Himalayan 450 produces 40PS of power at 8000 rpm and puts out a peak torque of 40 Nm at 5500 rpm with the ability to produce 33Nm of Torque 2500rpm onwards. This single-cylinder engine is paired with a 6-speed transmission that’s coupled with slip and assist clutch. There’s electronic fuel injection that fires the engine. As for the riding modes, you get two: Eco and Performance. The engine is said to perform better than the old Himalayan BS6 variant.
