Fang Cheng Bao is a Sub-Brand of BYD that has unveiled the Leopard 5 ahead of time. They officially released the image on the 14th of August, 2 days before the initial date. The New EV is set to launch at the Fang Cheng Bao Tech Conference on 16th August and have a public debut after a week at the Chengdu Motor on 25th of August.
BYD Leopard 5 Overview
The Leopard 5 will be available as an EREV EV which stands for Extended Range Electric Vehicle. Though they are dependent on their electric motor, they also consist of a small ICE that generates more Electric power. However, they also come with a petrol or diesel generator to recharge the battery when it becomes low.
The Leopard 5 features a rugged and blocky SUV that is equipped with a distinct style that includes a flat windshield, raised bonnet, block-shaped headlights, etc. It also comes with Fog lights that enhance its functionality and its aesthetics. The side showcases D-shaped taillights, a spare wheel mounted on the rear door, and BFGoodrich 265/55 – R18 AT tires that provides off-road capabilities.
In the Inside, it offers a combination of modern technology and practical features. It also features a large floating screen accompanied by a sporty D-shaped steering wheel, retractable gear selector, cup holders, and wireless charging pods.
Performance
The Leopard 5 is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged, 4-cylinder, Internal combustion engine (ICE) that is available with 2 electric motors, with a max power of 680 Ps and a max torque of 760 Nm. It also comes with rapid battery charging capabilities that can charge up to 125 Km (CTC) in 16 minutes. It also boasts a mixed range of 1200 Km making it suitable for long Rides.
The presence of the 4WD system with different locks contributes to the vehicle’s off-road prowess, allowing it to tackle challenging terrain with ease. It has a Battery capacity of 30 kWh that provides a range of around 125 Km. It has an overall wheelbase of 2800 mm, a height of 4890 mm, a width of 1970 mm, and a height of 1920 mm.
Additional Information
The Leopard 5 comes with Infotainment and Connectivity, Instrument Cluster, Face ID Sensor, and Exterior Lighting. The Cloud-P chassis technology comes with an Adjustable Hydraulic suspension that improves off-road capabilities and also enhances comfort and performance.
Pricing
According to the Chinese media, the Leopard 5 is expected to cost 400,000 RMB which is equivalent to Rs. 73.37 Lakh in Nepal.
